Tomato 'Heartbreakers Dora' is a compact cherry tomato variety developed specifically for small spaces and container growing. As part of the Heartbreakers series, it's known for producing miniature, heart-shaped fruits that give the cultivar its name. Available in red, orange, and yellow variants, the fruits offer both ornamental charm and sweet, tangy flavor. This variety was bred with urban gardeners and indoor growers in mind, balancing attractive appearance with reliable productivity.
The plant typically reaches 14 to 16 inches tall and spreads to about 14 inches wide, making it ideal for window boxes. It produces clusters of 8 to 10 fruits, each weighing around half an ounce. 'Heartbreakers Dora' matures in roughly 55 to 85 days depending on light and temperature. With its determinate growth habit, it produces one main flush of fruit, which makes it easier to manage indoors or on a balcony where space and time are limited.
In contrast to larger vining tomatoes that need cages or trellises, 'Heartbreakers Dora' maintains a bushy, self-supporting form. This, along with its short stature and decorative fruit, makes it well-suited for growing on sunny windowsills, kitchen counters, or patios. Its relatively fast fruiting cycle and minimal maintenance needs give it an edge over other Solanum lycopersicum cultivars when grown indoors, making it one of the few tomato varieties truly adapted to houseplant conditions.

Tomato 'Heartbreakers™ Dora' grows best in full sun, needing at least 6 to 8 hours of direct light each day to produce healthy fruit. Indoors, it should be placed in the brightest possible location, such as a south-facing window or under strong grow lights.
Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy, watering when the top inch feels dry to the touch. Be careful not to splash water on the foliage, as this can encourage fungal diseases.
It prefers moderate humidity and good air circulation, which helps prevent mildew or rot, especially when grown indoors in containers. Maintain daytime temperatures between 65 and 85°F and avoid exposing the plant to temperatures below 50°F.
Plant in a light, well-draining soil mix enriched with compost or organic matter. A container-specific or vegetable potting mix works well for potted specimens.
Feed every two weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer or one designed for tomatoes. Avoid over-fertilizing with nitrogen to prevent excessive leafy growth at the expense of fruit production.
While the fruits are safe to eat, the leaves and stems of tomato plants are mildly toxic to pets if ingested in large quantities. This variety is suitable for outdoor cultivation in USDA zones 9 through 11 or as an indoor potted plant in colder climates.
